Itinerary Summary

Experience the thrill of Bhutan’s winding mountain roads and discover its hidden gems on an exhilarating motorbike adventure.

Day 1
Arrival in Paro – Gear Up for Adventure

Arrive in Paro, where the anticipation of open roads and stunning landscapes fills the air. After settling into your accommodation, you’ll be introduced to your Royal Enfield (or similar) motorbike, your companion for the week. A thorough briefing on road conditions, safety protocols, and the itinerary will be provided. Take a short test ride around Paro town to familiarize yourself with the bike and the local traffic. This evening, enjoy a hearty dinner, preparing for the exhilarating journey ahead.

Day 2
Paro to Thimphu – The Capital Ride

Begin your ride from Paro to Thimphu, a scenic journey that offers a taste of Bhutan’s diverse terrain. The road winds through picturesque valleys and alongside the Paro Chhu (river). In Thimphu, visit the majestic Buddha Dordenma, offering panoramic views, and the impressive Tashichho Dzong. Enjoy a ride through the capital, observing its unique blend of tradition and modernity. The evening is free to explore Thimphu’s vibrant streets and prepare for the mountain passes.

Day 3
Thimphu to Punakha – Conquering Dochula Pass

Today’s ride is a highlight: conquering the iconic Dochula Pass (3,100m/10,200ft). The winding ascent offers exhilarating curves and breathtaking views of the eastern Himalayas on a clear day, adorned with 108 chortens. After a well-deserved break at the pass, descend into the warmer Punakha Valley. Visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, a stunning fortress at the confluence of two rivers. Enjoy the ride through the fertile valley, with its lush rice paddies and traditional villages.

Day 4
Punakha to Gangtey – The Phobjikha Loop

Embark on a ride to the serene Phobjikha Valley, a vast glacial basin known for its untouched beauty. The roads leading to Phobjikha offer a mix of smooth stretches and some challenging sections, perfect for experienced riders. Explore the valley on your bike, taking in the sweeping vistas and the Gangtey Monastery perched on a hill. This day offers a chance to truly immerse yourself in Bhutan’s pristine natural landscapes, with plenty of opportunities for stunning photo stops.

Day 5
Gangtey to Bumthang – Central Bhutan’s Charm

Continue your journey to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. This is a longer riding day, traversing through diverse landscapes, including dense forests and charming rural towns. The roads can be winding and sometimes unpaved, adding to the adventure. In Bumthang, explore some of the ancient temples and monasteries, such as Jambay Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang, soaking in the spiritual atmosphere. The evening offers a chance to relax in the tranquil setting of Bumthang.

Day 6
Bumthang to Paro – The Return Ride

To ensure a well-paced itinerary and avoid retracing long distances, your motorbikes will be transported back to Paro via a domestic flight (or truck, depending on logistics), while you enjoy a scenic domestic car ride back to Paro. This allows for a fresh perspective and saves valuable riding time. Upon arrival in Paro, enjoy a final evening celebrating your incredible journey, perhaps with a traditional Bhutanese cultural show or a farewell dinner.

Day 7
Departure – Echoes of the Open Road

After a final Bhutanese breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure. You leave Bhutan with the exhilarating memories of its open roads, the wind in your hair, and the stunning landscapes etched in your mind. This motorbike adventure will have offered a unique and intimate way to experience the Land of the Thunder Dragon, a journey of freedom and discovery.
